Ever wonder what to wear to a photoshoot or how to dress your kids? These are suggestions that I like to give but also like clients to collaborate ensembles that reflect your personality. The standard white shirt and jeans or black shirts and jeans to always look classic and timeless no matter the decade BUT this is your time to shine and reflect you.
For children and newborns I love the couture look. Floral, cute knitted animal hats and costumes are wonderful to add. Crowns, fluffy blankets and items the children absolutely adore. My clients are most happy with adorable outfits and the cute baby bum portraits for their newborn. We can’t forget that’s the only time we can deem appropriate for a tiny tot of one day old to six months. If you choose.
Senior Portrait sessions are that landmark moment that teens want done right. The only suggestions I have are to not wear outfits that you wouldn’t normally wear. Wear clothing that suits your personality but add combos of formal prom wear to skirts, nice dress pants, letter jacket or sports gear. Hats, scarfs, jewelry, hair switch ups…LOVE! I want your teen whether boy or girl to love what they get and their personality shines most in what they feel comfortable in.
FAMILY PORTRAITS AND ENGAGEMENTS
Family portraits can be fun, funky and classy. Add those classic and nice collaborated colors that are classic BUT bold and busy patterns that distract your eye will distract the photo. Stay away from clothing with words written on the shirts or pants, you won’t regret it.
Dress up! Have fun and look your best with your best outfits. Suits, great ties are great for those career jobs. It stands out that you want to look your best no matter the field and you want to dress to attract your client. If you’re an athlete, wear nice athletic clothing that is new and coordinated. If you wear a hard hat, dress semi dressy and wear that hard hat with charisma. These are just small samples of ideas below.
I love the timeless classy, fine art boudoir photos. If you have edginess to your personality bring some edgy clothing items too, its for your other half or just for you. We can go through outfits of classy to boots and a t-shirt. Call me with any questions but your session is 100% closed doors for your comfortability and although I don’t advertise my boudoir clients on social media often, I do have a gallery of ideas if you choose to gain other inspirational ideas. It’s password protected to maintain client confidentiality.
MODELING PORTFOLIO PHOTOS
Agencies are looking for this:
Simple snapshots are fine, companies who scout you are looking for a blank canvas to mold your look. Simple head-shots and full body wearing a bikini, sports outfit, tank and jeans. Also, keep makeup to a minimum and neutral shades. A little foundation, blush, concealer, mascara and lipgloss is all you really need.
Clothing should be in good taste, scouts are looking at you and not the clothing you are wearing. Keep hairstyles simple. No naked shots necessary. In a nutshell, agents and scouts do not want to see you naked, ever. If you want to play up your outfit to make it more fashionable, inspiration from Banana Republic, GUESS and Nordstrom style are excellent to go off of. Clean and fashionable.
To stay away from controversial issues, don’t wear fur.
