Thank you everyone, I have had the privilege of working with so many incredible clients.
Clients do like to ask some great questions when booking a portrait session. Here is a rundown of how your portrait session will look.
One of the most common questions are “where do we photograph?” Studio? Outdoors?
We can choose whichever is best for you. Keep in mind that certain times of the day are best to photograph for outdoor. Out of those time frames, I don’t ever suggest to photograph without buildings shadowing because you will get harsh sunlight and won’t love the result. You WANT to love the result.
Creative sessions involve more time with a set up for your family including a tent, décor and more. Please know that I am happy to give you the session you would like or we can re-schedule at no cost to you. You deserve the best! But know in all of my years I have hardly ever had to reschedule a photo session because the time you invest matters. Each session takes one hour to one and a half hours at most unless a mini session. You can choose to book more hours at a very reasonable cost.
My suggestions for clothing include color coordination and clothes that resemble ‘you’. The simple clothing colors such as jeans and black or white shirts are timeless and won’t age with time like some of fashions latest trends but it is up to you what you want your portrait to say.
I love parents’ advice on getting your little ones ready for the session. You know their favorite jokes and encouraged to bring their favorite toys. Snacks are also encouraged for after the session. Please keep in mind that too many parents helping a child to smile during a session can get a little distracting so one parent is encouraged to bring attention to the lens. My assistant can always help bring a smile to kids as well.
There is a toy room at the studio so your kids can enjoy a movie or play time if they are taking a ‘portrait break’. I try and photograph little ones fast and early in the session because their attention span is very limited. Eating during the sessions can cause stains on their clothes but if they are hungry please bring an extra outfit just in case.
You’ve arrived at the session. What next? I give tips on how to interact or smile in front of the camera to help aid. I want you to have a good time so bring your smiles, laughter and character. Your character is important for me to capture. It’s what you’ll want to cherish for years to come in your photo book or frame. If you love an instrument? Bring an instrument! If your child has a family heirloom? It makes that portrait even more special.
Retouching takes a while and with photo shoots there is usually a 6-8 hour editing time frame. Before your photos go to print, they are looked over and reviewed for final touches. Nothing goes to print unless it’s the image you approved. Artistic retouching such as painted portraits take longer but looks like a painted portrait.
ORDERING & HERE TO HELP
Finally, after all is said and done I am here to help. Contact us about anything! After the images are ready you’ll receive a telephone call and we can schedule a viewing in the sales room. This is the exciting part, I’ve seen so many parents cry in excitement or emotion that their ‘baby’ is growing up. It’s a sweet moment for you. In the sales room you can choose your favorites images. The images are kept for one month and if not ordered we do not keep the images because of storage demand. Your purchase is backed up for a promised year. Due to technology and how it changes I do try and keep what you order longer but can only guarantee one full year unless weddings.
Do you discount clients?
I do have a VIP program for clients who come to me regularly where they receive a free print or discounted session fee. Those clients’ sign up for a portrait program I am happy to offer anyone interested. Packages and pricing are set at a competitive studio rate offering great lab print quality. I have had some clients wanting to ‘bargain’ in the past and bargains although they seem appealing are not in my business structure unless already on sale. I would never go to a clothing store and ask them to discount something for me because I do not wish to buy full price. I do offer regular discounts on products as well as payment plans. If you would like to sign up for the mailing list, you are able to receive great new discounts regularly.
Finally, we finish up by letting them know that we are here to help in any way, and you can contact us about anything! We genuinely want you to be happy and comfortable with the experience.
